Space settlement: A big step for human civilization

 

Exploring the space is itself a big step for humankind. Humans are evolving rapidly, the idea of living beyond the earth has always marveled humans, the universe is a big place to explore. By expanding our horizons beyond this world, helps us develop understanding and lets us know about the universe properly. The idea of space colonization, space settling, will help us get to know the universe better.


Space settling or space colonization, is the idea in which humans live beyond the planet earth, it is the idea of human habitation on other planets, and in the space. There are some problems faced during this habitation, lack of gravity, lack of food resources, oxygen insufficiency, lack of water and many more things. This colonization also affects the behavior of the universe, but for the survival of humankind it is important to colonize the universe, humans are near extinction over these years, the advancing technology is exploiting earth’s nature, living beyond earth is important to keep our civilization growing.

 

Space settlement has till now been a hypothetical idea, but in years, due to this advancing technology, humans are going to prevail the solar system. Soon this hypothetical idea will become a society.

 

A space settlement should be initially located near earth, for constant supply of facilities, and for getting help during emergencies. After a constant going in the colonization process, we can expand our civilization further. For a start, space colonization, should start from the nearest approachable celestial body in which humans might be able to survive is the moon. Setting a civilization on moon, shouldn’t be impossible.


For settling in space, we need particular celestial body which is near to the earth because we need to communicate properly with our mother planet. Moon is close to the earth and it comes under the gravitational force of the earth. So, moon is the best choice to make our survival in future, we can make our settlements near the craters of the moon because it provides a basic foundation to make our structure and protect it from solar and lunar storms, frozen water in it, which will provide sufficient water supply to our colony for survival.


There will different structures of living in different sectors of the society and to connect all these sectors for the ease of living, a network of hyperloop pods, is a good idea, as they run in vacuum pipes. The hyperloop pods run in the vacuum pipes and in which we will need to create artificial gravity for the people travelling in them.


We can melt the frozen water present on the lunar surface to get water, which is essential for a human settlement. We can either store the water in a tight reservoir or can make edible water, with organic materials.


We can also use the water to get oxygen, we can decompose the water through the process of electrolysis, which will also help us get a sufficient supply of oxygen.

 

The thought of building industries on moon is a good idea, we can mine the moon for some metals and resources, and make some human made resources to use for our daily purposes on the moon. A problem that we might face during the execution of this plan is heat. The heat emitted during the process of manufacturing, may cause the temperature inside the structure to rise, causing health issues, and may cause dysfunction in the structure’s working. According to the law of conservation of energy, energy can neither be created nor be destroyed but can be changed from one form to another and this may be the solution to utilize the heat emitted during the process of manufacturing in the industries. We can use this heat energy by converting it into electrical energy. The walls or the outer coverings of structures of the industries can be made into three layers. The first or the outermost layer can be made using light weight metals such as aluminum or titanium, the second layer can be made using a thermoelectric metal, and the third and the innermost layer can be made by a metal which is a good conductor of heat and is strong. As the heat is emitted inside the structure the innermost layer of the structure will absorb the heat, which will then be absorbed by the middle layer made up of the thermoelectric metal, which will convert it into electricity, then the electricity produced, can be supplied to different sectors of the society for use.


We can also use thermoelectric generators to convert heat to electricity, which will also be used by the human society on moon.     

We can use the heat to melt the frozen water on the moon to fulfil our needs. 

We can also use solar energy for the human settlement.

 

Energy plays a vital role in the survival of human civilization. Everything, from a basic problem to complexities requires energy and if we talk about settling in a space colony, energy is a must, to keep our lives running. After we decompose water to get oxygen for breathing through the process of electrolysis, we can use hydrogen to fuel our needs of external transportation and use it to run industries.                                                                             

 

Humans require food to stay alive and without food, no life form can exist anywhere. We can grow plants on the surface of the moon, like, potatoes, tomatoes, etc.. We can also modify the soil of the moon, by modern techniques to grow other plants on the lunar surface.

 

Education is needed for the growth of human civilization; we can also build schools on the moon.

 

Hospitals are necessary for health care services, if any issues come up on the lunar surface, a medical aid is essential.

 

For communication, we can send a satellite for the moon to revolve around it, from moon we can send signals to the satellite and from there we can communicate to the earth.

 

The Habitation Centre, where people will live, will be a domed structure, and will be covered with solar panels, for convenient energy supply.


Communication Centre will, help us to communicate to the earth. It is also covered with solar panels for sufficient energy supply. It is covered with receivers to receive signals from the satellite.


Green house will have an arranged atmosphere, according to the plant’s requirements, and the soil of this area might be modified for agriculture.


We can use a sleeping capsule for temporary visitors.

 

Space settlement, colonization, is a great advancement in space exploration.
